Striper Dave and Mega Strike Mike Fishing for Creek Chubs on the Patuxent River in Maryland.
We had a good past 2 days of castin for Creek Chubs on the Patuxent River in Maryland. We were using 1/16 and 1/8oz white rooster tail spinner baits. Short video below of Mike Hookin up with a Creek Chub.

Yesterday we didnt catch as many as we did today, the bite seemed to be a little slower. The technique we used was to cast out to about the middle of the river and let the spinner bait drop to bottom before starting the retrieve.

The retrieve was a very slow retrieve, just enought to keep it off the bottom. Yesterday we hooked'up about a dozen fish and they were congregated in one area.

Today they were spread out a little more. The sun was out a little more today warming the water and I believe that made them move around a little. They did seem to be congregated near or in the deeper holes of the River stretch. Calm water away from the current was another key location they seemed to be holding.

Today we lost count after about 30. We estimate 40 or so today, with hook'ups approx. every 3rd cast. What a blast on ultra light tackle, strong fighters and good fun.
We are in the middle of January, water temps in the 30's and catching fish, Wow!! Fun Fishing can be had hear in Maryland year round. We will certainly be adding Creek Chubs to our list of fish we target. Creek Chubs in January!!!
Hook'em Up!!
